Five Things To Carry In Your Emergency Bridal Kit
Emergency Bridal Kits definitely come in handy! If we’ve learned one thing from our wedding photographer friends, it’s that every wedding needs an emergency bridal kit. This convenient little kit could spare you a ton of heartache and grief on your big day, and the best news is that it’s super simple to create. Assign this mandatory reading to your bridesmaids now!
Safety Pins
THE most important thing your Bridal Kit needs is safety pins. If a dress rips, a strap is too long, a button is missing, or some other type of wardrobe malfunction arises, safety pins are always the answer. Do not underestimate the power of a safety pin. We’ve seen countless weddings saved due to the magic of this simple device.
The good news is that in the world we live in, there are colored safety pins. While you can use silver or gold, you can also find them in white and black. Perfect for matching the bride and groom’s attire without being easily seen!
We recommend having safety pins stashed in multiple locations during photos, before the wedding, and during the reception. Have bridesmaids hold them in their purses or pin extras under their skirt hems.
Ask the mothers of the bride and groom to keep some with them. Trained photographers usually carry them as well, but offer them anyway. Do not ever be more than twenty feet away from safety pins, just in case. This is the one part of your wedding preparations that it’s okay to go overboard on.
Bobby Pins
Your hair will fall. Your bridesmaids’ hair will fall. Trust us when we say that you need to have bobby pins in your Bridal Kit, even if you don’t think you’ll need them. If your hairstyle doesn’t require bobby pins, by the end of the reception after dancing for two hours, you’re going to want to push back at least part of your hair. Bobby pins will be your friend.
Bobby pins come in a variety of colors. Get them to match your hair or get them in fun colors to match your bridesmaids’ dresses so that it stands out and looks intentionally styled.
Small Scissors
Carry small scissors with you. People will forget to clip off tags. You’ll find stray strings hanging off of clothing. You may even encounter something in a package that you can’t get open without the aid of scissors.
If you have a strapless dress, you might have those annoying little ribbons inside meant to keep your dress on the hangers—those tend to pop out at the worst times and ruin your photos and video. Once you realize they’re going to bother you, you’ll need to clip them off, and if you have a small pair of scissors in your Bridal Kit, you can!
We recommend going online and finding a pretty pair of sewing scissors. These can then double as a prop for your wedding photographer when they shoot your paper goods and accessories.
Travel Size Hairspray
That damned hair again! Hair will fall. Things will flip out strangely. You’ll sweat while dancing and need a touch-up. Having hairspray will help in so many ways.
This can also double to help with static when it comes to your dress or to help hold things in place under your dress. Talk to any pageant mom and she’ll tell you that hairspray will be your best friend.
Wipes
Don’t forget to pack wipes. Things will get dirty. You’ll want to clean your hands after meet and greets with all the guests. Your shoes will get scuffed up. You’ll touch some teriyaki sauce leftover from the apps you didn’t eat because you were too busy taking photos. Believe us when we say that wipes help fix up so many things when it comes to your wedding photos.
